Painted Topshell - Calliostoma zizyphinum
Found all round the UK from extreme low water mark down to 300m, the Painted Topshell, Calliostoma zizyphinum, is a unlikely to be mistaken for any other animal. Usually found on rock, it grows to about 3cms high and 3cms broad. A pure white morph is also sometimes seen.
