Jewel Anemone - Corynactis viridis
One of the most colourful sights in British waters are rock walls covered in thousands of the aptly-named Jewel Anemone, Corynactis viridis. Found only on western coasts, they prefer areas of high water movement. Very variable in colour, they form sheets of many individuals - one sheet may be brilliant green as in the picture and butting onto it will be other sheets in red, blue or brown.
