A reddish-brown starfish, the Serpent's Table Brittlestar, Ophiura albida is present all around the UK on soft ground. The central disc is up to 15mm in diameter and the arms maybe four times this size. It is very mobile and by moving each arm with in a snake-like action, it can progress relatively quickly. It is a suspension feeder.
