Angler Fish on North Sea reef
It is unusual to see Angler Fish (sometimes called Monkfish) Lophius piscatorius swimming. Here a small specimen is passing along a wall covered in retracted Dead Man's Fingers (Alcyonium digitatum). Their polyps have been drawn in due to disturbance or because the tide has stopped flowing. Entwined with the Dead Man's Fingers are masses of the Common Brittlestar (Ophiothrix fragilis)
