The Two-spotted Clingfish, Diplecogaster bimaculata, is fairly common around Britain although probably less so in the North Sea. It prefers rocky and stony areas but also sea grass beds where it can grip onto surfaces with its pelvic sucker. At a length of 5cms maximum, it is quite insignificant and relies on staying motionless to avoid detection. It is therefore not often noticed by divers and in fact, may be more common than is currently believed
