The Fireworks Anemone or Pachycerianthus multiplicatus is a spectacular beast. Up to 30cms across, it has two distinct layers of tentacles with the lower one forming a sort of skirt. They are quite rare and live in a few sea lochs in western Scotland where they project from tubes buried in mud in fairly shallow water. They retract into the tube when disturbed.
