The Cuckoo Ray or Raja naevus is a rarely observed fish and easily distinguished from other species of Ray by the roundels or "eyes" on its wings. With a maximum size of 70cms, it is often caught as a by-catch by trawlers. The wings are cut off and marketed as roker or or quite incorrectly as Skate (another species entirely which, due to over-fishing, is virtually extinct now around our shores.)
