Fries' goby or Lesuerigobius friesii is not often seen around our shores as it appears to be restricted to a few sea lochs in western Scotland. In these it is relatively common below a depth of 15m where it sometimes appears to be associated with the norwegian lobster, nephrops norvegicus, living alongside this animal in the same burrow. Grows to about 10cms and distinguished from other gobies by the yellowy spots on its body, beautifully coloured dorsal fin and pointed tail.
