Juvenile whiting (Merlangius merlangus) and other members of the cod family, frequently associate with jellyfish and other drifting organisms and even flotsam. They gain a measure of protction from predators but when the host is a jellyfish, protection must enhanced as they appear to be impervious to the stinging tentacles which they swim in with impunity. Here the host is a Blue Jellyfish, Cyanea lamarckii.
