The Pogge, Hooknose or Agonus cataphractus is a small, insignificant, little fish and quite common on British shores. It is often overlooked by divers however, as it doesn't move much and spends a lot of time part buried in sand or sediment using its strange beard of sensors (see more detail in next photo) to check for food hiding below it. The maximum size is about 15cms and can be found in both shallow and deep water. Also called the Armoured Bullhead.
